I was bored tonight, and too lazy to find a new movie to watch so I picked out of my favourites list and realised I never reviewed Shaun of the dead.

At this point, I probably watched it at least 50 times over the years.

I'm hopeless for British humour and Frost/Pegg is one of those duo you can either totally love or totally hate, but it has to be full deep feeling. I personally love then.

The soundtrack is excellent, it's fun, totally stupid in some ways and actually how I can relate and see myself surviving a zombie apocalypse. I mean, let's be realistic, we would be all more in the like of Shaun of the dead style than The Walking dead, whatever big boys might want 😂. I'm fine with that.

This movie is, for me, one of the pillars of comedic horror of the 00's. This script is so ridiculous that it actually works, it's gore (not so surprisingly when you watched a few of both Frost and/or Pegg's movies, and it's so damn fun to watch.

Well, whatever people and critics may think about this adaptation, I actually enjoyed watching it. It's definitely not perfect but it's no as bad as I thought based on the reviews. If you can see beyond the 💩 joke and choppy editing then you'll see the movie for what it is : a weird gritty -a bit silly- fast-paced and action-packed fun adaptation, with more carnage/fight than plot development and a tons of FX and cute badabooms. Hey, it worked with me and I'm a picky viewer when it comes to action and sci-fi. GIF by  unchxxrted The cast is awesome . I loved the fact that the movie shows off some 50+ actors, especially female characters really badass and action-packed in a entertainment industry that is often not tender with female lead, but usually easily play with female hypersexualization and has a bad case of agism. The lighthouse, Robert Eggers

I am hopeless for monochromatic aesthetics 💜 even when the movie is crap. It gives so much depth and poetry In this case, the film is far from being crap. I liked the claustrophobic feeling during the whole movie that is as unsettling as the story itself. The fact that it's film in 35mm mono helps a lot with this closed/intimate effect. GIF by  featurefilms I felt anxious and unhinged as much as the character and it is crazy how the feeling and the slow decent to madness is shared and resomate so easily while you're watching the movie. It's immersive and feel personal. That's something I always feel in Robert Eggers's movies. Eggers injects some unexpected levity in this folk dark sea-tale. And the acting is the cherry on top. A slow paced masterpiece perfectly realized with a top notch black and white contrasted aesthetic.
